Where? Miniloc Island. It’s the small beach at the entrance of the Big Lagoon.
Access? Private. El Nido Resorts guests only.
Limestone Cliffs? Yes. Yes. Yes.
Palm Trees / Coconut Trees? Sorry, but the flora here isn’t palmy or coconuty. Still tropical though.
Sand Quality? Shelly white near the shore. Fairly powdery white as you go inland.
Water? Clear in the shallow part and towards the direction of the Big Lagoon.
Sunset? None. You would have to venture out to Bacuit Bay, just behind Miniloc, for sunset photos.
Best time for photography? Here’s the challenge - you have to be here mid-afternoon if you want strong, directional light on both your subject and the prominent limestone cliffs in the background (second photo). Otherwise, it will be shadows on the beach versus strong, direct light on the cliffs. Unless it’s overcast where you have skylight and even lighting throughout (first photo).
Crowded? Don’t you just love private coves?
Author’s Note? This beach is southeast-facing — perfect for moonrise shots.
